Lawn Darts and Beer Farts
Ok so last month I decided that I would poll my friends and co-workers on different aspects of outdoor physical toys. I had each
of the 10 people I know rate yes or no to whether the toy in question was: Fun, Collectable, and how easy it was to use.
First we will start with my personal favorite the Pogo Ball.
I own close to 50 of these bouncinggems. Almost all color combinations except for a 1985
limited We Are the World promo edition, but soon that will be mine. Lets rate this ball!
When it came to fun only 4 of my friends enjoyed the pogo ball. Apparently the other 6
friends couldn’t mount the ball in order for them to be totally Krossed out and jump around.
It’s hard for me to relate to that since I’m pure freestyle on the pogo ball.
On to the next category, how collectable are they? Well only 3 of my friends thought they
were collectable. However I think they were joking. I didn’t sense sincerity in their voices.
When the voting had been done, I informed everyone just how collectable and valuable these pogo balls
really are! I mean the cheapest one was $45.00! That alone means they are valuable and people want them!
It’s basic laws of supply and demand! Oh well I guess we can’t all be into it proper like me.
Next we have ease of use. Only 2 of my friends voted yay for this. I say the other 8 are total gaywads for
not trying hard enough. I have no problem pogoin’ on a ball. Well I do practice 3 hours a day on it so I’m
pretty good with my tricks. You should see me tear it up on the half pipe! I’m stellar. Ok so I guess only
two of my friends have a sense of balance.
Everyone can have fun
on a pogo ball!

Ignore warnings like this at all cost!
On to Jarts my jolly good friends! These really went over well with my friends, until Sam
got injured by one. Don’t worry Sam went to the ER and weirdly enough we didn’t see
Clooney anywhere! But I speculate Sam will have a speedy recovery.
Again the topic of fun. Almost everyone had fun with these. I think Sam was having fun
until he got hit with one. Even though no one won the game, everyone enjoyed throwing
these things at each other. I hid underneath a canoe for 2 hours avoiding enemy fire.
So to conclude these are fun and gnarly. Everybody but Sam said so. They may be illegal,
but that’s the true test of whether something is fun or not…….has it been made illegal?
Collectability! Only 6 of my friends agreed that these were collectable. The other 4
friends just thought they were dangerous. I say poo on them! The mere fact they are
illegal makes them as collectable as the Faces Of Death documentary series! Those
movies are so scary!
How easy are Jarts to use? Well Sam thought they were really easy to use, then he
realized all too easy when he was stabbed by one. The whole gang gave their support
on this one! However a certain group of 4 people thought this ease of use added to their
ominous danger

Just so you all know Wham-O’s Tracball is a time tested stalwart of outdoor recreation. I’m not a huge fan, but I give credit where it’s due. I personally don’t think Tracball gets the accolades it deserves.
Is Tracball fun? Well I’d say so, but I didn’t get to play it! Actually only 2 people played it for almost the whole day! One of which was Sam, and of course he stopped when he got stabbed by the Jart.
How endangered and collectable is Tracball? Half of my friends said that it was collectable. But 3 of those friends still own and breed Sea Monkeys. So I’m taking their vote with a grain of salt. Tracball is still being pushed to be a sport at the Olympics, so I don’t think they are quite at the same level Jarts and Pogo Balls are.
Ease of use? Well they looked pretty dang easy to 5 of us, and the other two who were actually playing Tracball said it was easy as punch. For some reason the other 3 people weren’t watching them so they voted that Traball wasn’t easy to use.

Last but not least……..Lawn Fishing. Everyone marveled at this recreation of a national pastime on dry land. We all know fishing can be fun, but how about Lawn Fishing? Good question we found out, not very fun. Only one of my friends thought this game was fun, but he had never fished in real life so for him it seemed exciting. The rest of us watched how unrealistic the game was. You are fishing for plastic fish in the yard. That is the furthest thing from being boss.
Would one collect this outdoor extravaganza? One of my friends thought so, surprisingly it was the friend that liked the game. I didn’t have the heart to tell him it was not even $12.00 in the blue book.Is it easy to play. Yes, but only one of us voted yes, because the rest of us lost interest and started throwing Jarts at each other.
